Created by JESS3: Focused on educating viewers about Gmail’s “just like your web-based-browser” interface available in 44 languages on mobile devices like the iPhone, this larger-than-life 30-second animation was done through the meticulous processes of stop motion and 100% papercraft. What better way to highlight the features of Gmail, that will now be available on select phone browsers in 44 languages, than to bring these features to life, march them from the web to the iPhone, all through stop-motion animation? By creating characters out of the familiar and favorite Gmail features, everything from the stars to the threaded conversations take on their own identity and purpose. The original marching band soundtrack sets the upbeat tone as the characters excitedly peel off from the laptop interface and confidently march their way into the iPhone browser. What took around-the-clock weeks of tender love and care into making the props and the stage transformed into an epic 30-second spot for GMAIL.

we are very proud announce the second installment of the project: MINUS-EMBED 02 by Emre Guven who studied graphic design at Bilkent University. He has been working since 2006 as a fashion photographer with a focus on experimentation in lighting, framing, and retouching. Emre accompanied Richie Hawtin to the Monegros festival in Spain on July 18th 2009, capturing more than eight hours of his journey and performance there on both video and film. These photographs were then put together in a short film by Minus’s own Ali Demirel to create a moving photographic documentary of the event, as well as in a photo collage that will be exhibited at the 2010 Sonar festival. “This was a unique experience for me since it’s different from what I generally do,” says Emre. “Trying to capture a gig from the back of the stage as Richie actually did his regular thing was amazingly weird! I had never seen 40.000 people looking my way and cheering frantically… I had the best time with the crew too. We ate, we drank, we really had a good time together.”
