How To Draw Tonally (Non-Traditionally) – 02
The second Non-Traditional demonstration of costumed gesture drawing for the Animation and Entertainment Industry, handled tonally while keeping in mind the ground plane and a sense of mood, rough lighting and a sense of character to a story-driven drawing. – The medium used is an Sanford Design Ebony – jet black, extra smooth pencil.
Prinsdam,
Funny man . . . don’t blow your wad and purchase too many pencils. Then again, it’s nice to get a good release when doodlin’.
Best,

I saw this video, ejaculated, went out and bought two packs of Sanford ebony pencils the very next day. Amazing.
Rick,
The pencil used in this demo is actually a Sanford Ebony Pencil. Extra smooth, jet black for a nice set of values from soft and light to a very dark black. Thank you for your nice comments . . . more to come,

Great work, I always enjoying your videos.
what interests me is how you manage to express this “story” and background of the character so easily while keeping it clean and with no much planning. im guessing your experience helped you create that image in your head and form it on the paper (and maybe the model, if its still there, gives a really good idea of the anatomy and pose you want)
great drawing. I was wondering is that a sanford ebony pencil?
This looks amazing, I just found the “theartcenter dot blogspot” website for some days ago, and I am so glad too see all the good inspiration, thank you (:
buen video Mac

this is great ! Thanks for doing this
Watching the process of building up a drawing from begining to end is very helpful. It is like seeing into your mind while it is solving a visual problem.
wow this is really cool!
Thanks guys for the kind comments.
Superman41573,
I’m working on it. I work full time, teach and travel quite a bit for the book so I’m a busy guy. More on the way soon,
MAC
