@ Abbeyhilary OMG, spawned from capitalism??? Learn your art description. Graphic design dates back to Mesopotamia. Simply place, GD is the combination of symbols, images and words to communicate an thought. It can be used in many ways, but it is not tied to any one system.

To make a logo a designer has to maybe draw a dozen uncommon designs before the final logo is select.

You have no clue what you are talking about. Using type is a key part of design, but there is much, much, more to it that apparently you still have yet to learn. It really is used in video games and movies. All video games have some sort of user interface. Interface design is just one of many uses of graphic design. Movies generally do not use too much design, but it is evident in intro scenes such as those from the James Bond movies.
not really…design isn’t tricking people, it’s just designing things in the best and most functional way..
It’s excellent GD doesn’t get a lot of coverage since really, the fewer who know about graphic design, the better it works.
