With the same design and materials, my customized RD6 is just as tough as it was before. But now it is lighter, sleeker, more attractive and has better utility thanks to the modifications made by Justin Gingrich of Ranger Knives. The thinner stock (now 3/16″) is lighter, and I should be able to put a keener edge on the blade. The larger choil and added jimping will allow better grip when choking up. The jimping is sharp enough to notch wood, and gives me another surface to use for various bushcraft and survival tasks. The radiused micarta scales have been contoured for added comfort, but now have a design reminiscent of wood grain. This plus the new, satin finish make the knife much more attractive. The knife retains its rugged nature but overall should be much more capable because of the added balance and control, and more enjoyable because of its look and feel. Because the changes were my ideas, it should come as no surprise that I give the RD6 Custom a perfect score. 10/10
