Sudan, Abyei News: Border dispute – court ruling on Abyei borders


Abyei, the oil rich region in South Sudan, is one of the most prized and fought over pieces of land in Africa. The Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague has given the Khartoum government in the north of Sudan control of the Heglig oilfields and the Nile oil pipeline in the disputed Abyei region. Both the Sudanese government and SPLM in Southern Sudan pledged to abide by the ruling of the Abyei Arbitration Tribunal in The Hague. This is encouraging for stability in Sudan.
